In 1951, Argentine racing driver José Froilán González achieved Ferrari's first-ever victory in a Formula One race, at the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone Circuit. González drove a Ferrari 375 F1 car to win the race, which was the second round of the 1951 Formula One World Championship. The victory was significant for Ferrari as it marked the team's first triumph in a World Championship race. It also marked the first time a driver from Argentina had won a Formula One race, and González went on to become one of the most successful drivers for the Scuderia Ferrari team in the early 1950s. Ferrari went on to achieve many more victories and became one of the most successful teams in Formula One history, winning 16 Constructors' Championships and 15 Drivers' Championships as of 2021. The team has also achieved success in other forms of motorsport, including endurance racing and GT racing.
