In 1952, Italian racing driver Alberto Ascari won the first of his two consecutive drivers' championships driving for Scuderia Ferrari. Ascari's dominant performance in the championship saw him win six of the eight races held that season and clinch the title with a race to spare. Ascari drove the Ferrari 500 to victory in five of the six races he won that season, with his other win coming in the Ferrari 375. His main championship rival that year was fellow Ferrari driver Nino Farina, who had won the inaugural drivers' championship the previous year. The 1952 season marked the beginning of a period of dominance for Scuderia Ferrari in Formula One, with the team winning the constructors' championship every year from 1952 to 1954. Ascari continued his winning ways in 1953, winning his second consecutive drivers' championship, again driving for Ferrari. Ascari remains one of the most successful drivers in the history of Scuderia Ferrari, having won 13 Grand Prix races and two drivers' championships for the team. His success helped establish Ferrari as one of the most iconic and successful teams in the sport of Formula One.
