In 2011, Ferrari had a slow start to the season and were trailing behind McLaren and Red Bull. They struggled with the new Pirelli tyres, but their form steadily improved. Some spectacular drives from Fernando Alonso, including a victory at Silverstone, kept him in the title hunt for longer than expected. However, his teammate Felipe Massa had a disappointing season and failed to finish on the podium once. In the end, Alonso finished fourth in the drivers' championship and Ferrari finished third in the constructors' championship.
